Video lighting issues on "Sojourn Stories"

This is one of the videos we shot using our "Ghetto Video Rig".

Back story... I did not test this video through the projector or on the screen. It was my assumption that it would translate the same. When we played it Sunday where was the amazing glossy look all over Monica's face. I tested Wesley's video (not uploaded yet) and he had the same issue. It looked like they took a bath in lip gloss.

After doing some research there were three suggestions for fixing the problem.

1. Using stage makeup to kill the glare of our Ghetto Light Rig. I don't like this idea. Have you ever seen TV people wearing stage make up? Seriously, it is creepy and makes me want to throw up... it is gross.

Video Shoot on a budget (non-budget)

Here are some pictures of how we are shooting video on a non existent budget.

For Video
Borrowed Panasonic DV Camera
Borrowed Tripod
DV Tapes - $35
2 75 watt desk lamps - $12 each
HD Headphones - $100
Lav mic from Radio Shack - $30

For Editing
MacBook Pro 2.2 Dual Core with 4GB of RAM
Final Cut Express 4
7 hours to Produce, Edit, and Render for next Sojourn Series.
Multiply hours by 10 to 15 videos to still shoot, edit, and render. MUCHO TIME!!!

New to the Video World

So I have decided to fluff off here at work and concentrate on more important things, like Jesus, Sojourn, and Technology... And how we mix these three so that the gospel is broadcast to not only Huntsville, but to the planet...

All of us on the "Tech Team" are new to video. So every week there are new discoveries. Every time a video is filmed or produced quality, delivery, and creativity increase.

One of the resources that has been super valuable has been http://www.studentfilmmakers.com and there monthly magazine. Wendy gets this publication free as a result of teaching students Theater and Film. This week I was able to reference on of the magazines for help I needed with a video lighting setup.
